Carnoustie Cottage – Review 1

This will be the fifth year that we have rented Carnoustie, – each time for a minimum of one month, – just us two & the dog, – although we have had the odd visitors for a few days each. Delightful location with eagles, heron etc. Mostly we rent in June-July, although in 2016 we were there for five weeks in June, and back again in September, – even though we live in Chicago! A very well-equipped house, – the new owner is in the food-service business so there is an abundance of of high quality pots & pans. We cook at home a lot – great Island beef, buy lobsters off the boat at around US$5.00/lb, mussels from the processing plant at just over $1.00/lb and oysters from the oyster farm, – but there are some first class restaurants on the Island. The house now has not only kayaks & bicycles, but also wind-surf boards. The dog loves the easy access to the water. Dean, the property manager is very responsive to any & all requests, service is his motto!! I highly recommend Carnoustie Cottage, – as we are only two people it is relatively expensive for us, – but for a group of eight, – Carnoustie represents great value. A car is absolutely essential. Exercise classes are available at the Lions Club in North Rustico, – about a mile away – an easy bike ride.
